Roseberry Topping Morning Bluebells

An early start is rewarded with a fantastic sky over the North York Moors. This magical location on the edge of Newton woods is extremely popular in May with photographers and walkers who flock to see the Bluebell Carpet at Roseberry Topping. This is slightly different to the usual shots of the Bluebells which are often taken at sunset, but offers something different with a morning sky over Roseberry Topping.
This image was shot back in Spring 2015 which was a great year to photograph the Bluebell Carpet at Roseberry Topping with Aireyholme Farm planting rapeseed in the field adjacent creating a stunning contrast between yellows and blues. The view from here just below Cliff Ridge offers a fantastic angle of Roseberry Toppings distinctive shape which is due to a collapse in 1912, likely caused by the mining of Alum and Iron Stone under The Yorkshire Matterhorn.
