Robin Hoods Bay Golden Sunrise

A beautiful summers morning on the Yorkshire Coast. Setting my alarm and getting up early for this photography trip; and i was so pleased i did as i approached Robin Hoods Bay from Whitby. A warm glow began to fill the sky above the bay. Walking down into the  historic fishing village i noticed this scene looking over the natural harbour; with the fishing boats at anchor. Takin a few photographs from this location of the Robin Hoods Bay Golden Sunrise and then moving onto the beach. We have produced this image a number of times; and it has proved popular as a canvas print and photograph.

Robin Hood’s Bay is a fishing village situated on the coastal section of the Cleveland Way. During the 16th century it was an important port, even busier than nearby Whitby. In the 18th century it was another of the coastal villages where smuggling was rife. Contraband such as tea, gin, run, brandy, and tobacco were brought in from France and the Netherlands; the illicit goods were transported underground in a network of secret passages. Robin Hood’s Bay’s more recent claim to fame was that the village was the setting for Leo Walmsley’s Bramblewick novels, and some scenes for the 2008 film Wild Child were filmed here.

Today Robin Hoods Bay is one of the most loved seaside tourist destinations on the North Yorkshire Coast. A fascinating seascape close to Boggle Hole and is over looked by the town that never was; Ravenscar on the cliffs to the south towards Scarborough. Like Staithes and Runswick Bay’ Robin Hoods Bays tradition industry fishing; out of the Yorkshire Cobbles has been replaced with Tourism. Many of the charming cottages now offer accommodation in Robin Hoods Bay in the form of holiday cottages. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the moors national park; beautiful mornings as seen in a Robin Hoods Bay Golden Sunrise only adds to the appeal of this seaside fishing village.
