As Alfred Wainwrights Coast to Coast walk comes to its end on the Yorkshire Coast at Robin Hoods Bay, walkers will have past through this enchanting woodland on the outskirts of the historic whaling port of Whitby. The woodland has many great surprises to offer including an 18th century hermitage. A little further down the trail the magnificent waterfall of Falling Foss can be found, and the old game keepers cottage that is now the Falling Foss Tea Gardens. The river banks are complimented by the grandeur of the old trees. Which look there most magical in the autumn when they begin to shed there leaves and coat the forest floor in a sea of orange and red.
