Guisborough Priory Sunrise

Beautiful Augustinian priory founded by Robert the Bruce, it fell victim to a fire in 1289 and was rebuilt in the following century in a Gothic style, it is perhaps one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England. Sadly it was destroyed in the dissolution of the monasteries and its stone was used on surrounding buildings . Now only the East remains, seen here with the sun shining through one of the great windows onto the spring Daffodils, it is the symbol for the town of Guisborough.
