Hole Of Horcum Panoramic

The Hole of Horcum, one of the North Yorkshire Moors most unusual yet spectacular sights. 400 feet deep and almost 3/4 mile wide and situated between the Towns of Pickering and Whitby. Humans have occupied this area since the bronze age and a popular myth to the valleys is that a giant scooped the earth from here to throw at his wife in an argument. A process called spring sapping is the real reason but a great story, and the valley continues to widen to this day. The Hole of Horcum is a popular circular Yorkshire walk, hugging the edges of this natural amphitheatre the trail lead to Levisham Moor before coming back across the bottom of the valley.
