Staithes North Yorkshire
A glorious summers morning at Staithes North Yorkshire. Setting my alarm and making the 5 minute trip; i couldn’t resist taking this image of the Staithes cottages from Cowbar. Yorkshire cobbles lay in Roxby Beck; only a few remain of Staithes once mighty fishing fleet. Tourism to Staithes now is the main income; with much of the village been holiday lets. Staithes is appealing for a few reasons; but mostly for its character a charm. Staithes also plays a part in the Captain Cook story; him working here as an apprentice grocer before he left eventually joining the Royal Navy. The nearby North Yorkshire Moors; and the Historic port of Whitby make this an excellent location for any visitor to Yorkshire. The Cleveland Way also runs threw the village. Crossing the Roxby Beck and on up Cowbar Bank; fiction home of “Old Jack” from the TV show.
