Staithes Summers Morning
A lovely tranquil morning at Staithes looking over the Roxby Beck. I have taken many pictures of this village over the years; but this is one of my personal favourites. I think the moored Yorkshire cobbles and the Roxby Beck reaching the sea; really captures the essence of the village. Right behind me is number 4 Cowbar Bank which is the fictional home of Old Jack from the CBeebies series. But Old Jacks Boat isn’t the only thing attracting tourist to this picturesque fishing port; the village is known globally for its sheltered harbour and sand stone cottages. Staithes also plays a part in the Captain Cook story; having lived here for a while it is said that this is where Captain Cooks passion for the sea derived from. The bridge in the foreground is part of the Cleveland Way trail that cuts threw this historic fishing village.
