Staithes Harbours Fishing Boats
A beautiful late summers evening at Staithes. I’d spent the afternoon with my 2 children fishing for crabs or “crabbing” of the pier; and took my camera just incase. I was so glad i did as the sun set behind Boulby; the sky filled with pink, yellow and red. Setting up on the east breakwater i was treated Stunning scene; of Staithes harbours fishing boats at dusk. Once Staithes sheltered harbour would have been full of the Yorkshire cobbles; today there are only a few boats remaining. The main industry in Staithes now is Tourism. People Visit from all over the world. They come to see the Amazing Staithes cottages buried in the hill side; and following the Captain Cook story. The Cleveland way passes threw Staithes on the way from Whitby. Crossing Roxby beck to Cowbar; the home of “Old Jack” from the TV series. Staithes is also within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park boundary; making it a great location to stay on the coast.
