Staithes Harbour Sunset
The Cleveland Way from Staithes to Whitby is the location i capturing this Staithes Harbour Sunset from. A beautiful fishing village hidden away on the North Riding Coast. Steeped in history Staithes can boast many famous residents including James cook. James later moved to Whitby and became Captain James cook of the Royal Navy.  Captain Cook became the greatest explorer of all time and was a hero of the British Empire. He discovered Australia, New Zealand and many other islands in the southern hemisphere. Tragically it was on his third great exploratory voyage that he was killed on the island of Hawaii on valentines day 1779.
Once this quite Yorkshire fishing village was the 6th busiest fishing port in England; now only a few remain. Another local industry of times gone by is Alum mining; and evidence can be seen in the picture on the cliffs at Boulby where it was dug away. The main industry now like similar villages of Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay is tourism. Staithes cottages offer a large percentage of accommodation in Staithes; while the are also many outstanding Hotels nearby and further down the coast in Whitby.
A great time to visit Staithes would be for the Arts and Heritage Weekend that is held annually now; and also for the Staithes and Runswick Lifeboat Weekend. Another great attraction to this corner of Yorkshire is The North Yorkshire Moors National park; Staithes been within its boundaries.

All canvas prints bought from us are made using the Epson 9900. Its 11 ink printer system maximises the ground-breaking Epson Ultra Chrome HDR Inks with their massive colour gamut and DMax.

Colours are exceptionally vibrant with outstanding realism and have a lightfast rating of over 200 years. Our canvases are printed at a staggering 720 x 1440 resolution, which we could not take full advantage of using a canvas of mediocre quality. That is why the canvas we use is imported from the USA, for its superior print quality and longevity. It is a 450 GSM matt poly-cotton canvas that is OBA free and will not yellow overtime like an inferior canvas, it is also archival certified for over 100 years (click here for certificate).

Once printed our canvases are given a day for the ink to cure, it is then protected by a revolutionary Matt varnish to help protect against UV light scuffs and abrasion. Once dry the canvas is carefully hand stretched around a 38mm thick kiln dried solid pine frame and then tensioned using wedges. Finally the back is sealed and a stylish bronze hanger is fitted for ease of hanging.

Mounted photos are produced on our large format Epson 9900 printer which takes full advantage of the Epson Ultra Chrome HDR Inks.
