Staithes Cod And Lobster
Staithes Cod And Lobster sits on the edge of the sea wall; dangerously close to the North Sea. Over the years the pub has been struck a few times; i can even recall a story told to me about a piano the sea tried to wash out on one occasion. What is certain; in high seas punters would have to enter and leave between the waves to avoid a soaking. Despite the numerous attacks from the sea Staithes Cod and Lobster still remains looking across the Staithes beach and Harbour. Located just north of Whitby; Staithes was once one of the busiest fishing ports in England. The main industries in Staithes today are mainly tourist related. Tourist arrive from all over the world; to see the Staithes and Runswick Lifeboat Weekend and Heritage Festival. Another reason people come to Staithes is to visit the Captain Cook Museum, this village was his home for a while before he left for Whitby. Accommodation in Staithes comes from the many old cottages; now converted into Holliday homes. Busy most of the year round with guests also visiting Whitby and the North York Moors.

All canvas prints bought from us are made using the Epson 9900. Its 11 ink printer system maximises the ground-breaking Epson Ultra Chrome HDR Inks with their massive colour gamut and DMax.

Colours are exceptionally vibrant with outstanding realism and have a lightfast rating of over 200 years. Our canvases are printed at a staggering 720 x 1440 resolution, which we could not take full advantage of using a canvas of mediocre quality. That is why the canvas we use is imported from the USA, for its superior print quality and longevity. It is a 450 GSM matt poly-cotton canvas that is OBA free and will not yellow overtime like an inferior canvas, it is also archival certified for over 100 years (click here for certificate).

Once printed our canvases are given a day for the ink to cure, it is then protected by a revolutionary Matt varnish to help protect against UV light scuffs and abrasion. Once dry the canvas is carefully hand stretched around a 38mm thick kiln dried solid pine frame and then tensioned using wedges. Finally the back is sealed and a stylish bronze hanger is fitted for ease of hanging.
