Cod And Lobster Staithes Sunrise
A glorious Morning at The Cod And Lobster Staithes. A famous fishing village on the Yorkshire coast with tourism increasing year on year; peaking for the Staithes and Runswick Lifeboat Weekend and Arts and Heritage Weekend; which we have taken part in for a few years now. Staithes accommodation demand is also boosted by holiday makers spending time by the sea; surfers and people walking the Cleveland way and using the Village as a stop off point.
Staithes also has a rich history stretching back to Viking times when landed here, but the most famous resident has to be the great explorer Captain Cook. Leaving his home at Aireyholm Farm James moved to the village to work a a grocer before moving on to whitby to begin an illustrious career at sea; from transporting coal in the merchant navy to commanding a ship of the kings fleet!. He went on to be the Greatest explorer of all time; and to this day he is still celebrated with Hospitals, Schools and even the NASA space shuttles named in his honour.
