Deep into The North York Moors and standing astride the River Esk lies the village of Castleton. As one of the largest villages within the national park, this idyllic location is an excellent place to ramblers and nature lovers, as you are literally surrounding by some of North Yorkshire’s most stunning countryside. Perfect for birdwatchers, walkers and indeed landscape photographers, our images of Castleton feature rolling hills, green trees and every so often a beautiful sunset to enjoy.
The village itself is a thriving community of local people and businesses, and we are always sure of a warm welcome in one of the two great pubs in the village centre, The Downe Arms and The Eskdale Inn. From here you can enjoy a drink and a warm meal before taking a walk up any one of the tracks and pathways that form the Esk Valley Walk, and there are some truly unique sights to view along the way.
